CAMPEGGIO MONTE SAN GIORGIO
In 2016, the Foundation decided to buy Monte San Giorgio Campsite and transform it into a social enterprise offering many stimulating career opportunities to young people, boys and girls (who are disadvantaged, disabled, refugees or have special needs), in various sectors such as maintenance, hospitality and catering.
The campsite is located in the Meride area inside the Monte San Giorgio UNESCO site.
The campsite is developing activities in close collaboration and synergy with another important social project of the Foundation, Ca. Stella FARM-Camino Spinirolo. Local associations, schools, children and families who stay at Ca.Stella FARM-Camino Spinirolo can enjoy the swimming pool, experience the excitement of sleeping in the Indian Tepees, and engage in a series of recreational and work activities while respecting nature.
Young people can become active and productive thanks to the help and stimulation provided by training courses and the opportunity to be introduced to the world of work.
Inside the campsite is a typical and welcoming grotto which is also open to the public. The project aims to eventually make it an independent educational activity which will generate income to support the social programmes promoted by the Foundation and by Ca.Stella FARM-Camino Spinirolo.
