\u201cIn the summer of 2017, during the migration emergency, I met Don Giusto Della Valle, an exceptional person committed to alleviating the suffering of these people. The drama of migration has always distressed me, and I have long wanted to be able to do something about it. With Don Giusto\u2019s help, we looked for a property to renovate so it could be fit for unaccompanied foreign minors, and we found it in Rebbio (Como), at via Giussani 35. The property used to belong to the “College of African Missions”, also known as “Comboni Missionaries”, who needed the proceeds from the sale to support the hospital they run in Mapuordit, South Sudan, which had been damaged in the war. This was a most beautiful coincidence! While we were busy with our plans for the new building, there came a change in the Italian migration policy, as a result of which, we readapted the project to the needs of the community.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]The Casa di Rebbio will be open to the neighbourhood and the city as a place of education and integration; it will offer shelter to unaccompanied minors, mothers experiencing hardship together with their children and children of any nationality, especially those in more vulnerable situations. A floor of the building has four apartments available to families in times of vulnerability and hardship. The work at the construction site of the “Caracol” home ended in late 2019 and the social enterprise managed by the parish of Rebbio and Symplok\u00e9 (created by the diocesan Caritas of Como) began in the spring of 2020″.<\/span>
\nWe are very happy to announce that the Casa di Rebbio is open and offers many services to people in difficulty.<\/span><\/p>\n
